Open Access Committee Showcases Industry Leadership and Advances Strategic Initiatives

The Open Access Committee had a strong presence at the FTTH Conference 2026, hosting a targeted workshop featuring case studies on how standards and technology are enhancing the Open Access customer experience.

In addition, the Committee delivered a panel session bringing together a diverse group of senior stakeholders—including investors, Tier-1 operators, aggregators, and an Open Access provider—to discuss what is needed to “unleash the power of Open Access.” The discussion highlighted the importance of collaboration, innovation, and clear frameworks to drive the next phase of market development.

Building on this momentum, the Committee is progressing several key initiatives. Work is underway on a strategic paper on Open Access, focused on unlocking ecosystem value while safeguarding investment, with an analysis of models and progress across Europe.

In parallel, the Committee has launched the development of a Europe-wide database of Open Access providers, mapping products and services to improve transparency and support stronger industry collaboration.

These initiatives reinforce the Committee’s role in shaping a more open, competitive, and efficient fibre market across Europe.
