FTTH Council Europe joins joint statement calling for stronger recognition of Wi-Fi in the Digital Networks Act

FTTH Council Europe has joined a broad group of organisations from the European connectivity ecosystem in a joint statement calling for stronger recognition of Wi-Fi in the EU Digital Networks Act.

The statement underlines that fibre and Wi-Fi are deeply complementary technologies: fibre brings high-capacity connectivity to buildings, while Wi-Fi distributes that connectivity indoors, where the vast majority of user data is consumed.

Together with the other signatories, FTTH Council Europe calls on co-legislators to strengthen Articles 17, 27 and 28 of the Digital Networks Act to better recognise licence-exempt spectrum and dynamic sharing as strategic components of Europe’s digital infrastructure.
