Dr. Duncan Earl is the Senior Director of Quantum Networking at IonQ, a company pioneering the development of trapped-ion quantum computers. Prior to joining IonQ, Dr. Earl co-founded Qubitekk – a small business focused on developing and deploying quantum networks. In addition, he spent eighteen years as an R&D scientist at Oak Ridge National Laboratory where he performed work in quantum optics, optical sensing, and various other optical research areas. Dr. Earl is a serial entrepreneur, winner of multiple R&D 100 awards, holds numerous patents, formerly served on the Steering Committee for the U.S. Quantum Economic Development Council (QED-C), and currently serves as the Chief Scientist for the EPB Quantum Network in Chattanooga, TN.
